What grammage to choose in the summer bedspreads?

As we discussed in the Previous post, the temperature marks the changes of bedding and it is time to choose the summer bedspreads that will accompany us during the spring and all summer.

A quilt is a product of high quality, which needs several factors to take into account in the election in addition to the design, as is the material and the thickness that it must have.

As it happens in winter with the ideal choice of Nordic filling, depending on the areas in which we are and the conditions that occur in the house (we explain in a post: how to choose the ideal thickness) also occurs in bedspreads despite being in times of apparent heat.

During the night, temperatures may vary around 4-5 negative degrees. It is not the same temperature that we can find to the 23: 00 or 00: 00 when we lie down that the one that we are in the course of the night, on the 05: 00 and the 08: 00. In the image, we can see the usual decline experienced in Madrid, with a decrease of 4 points from the 23: 00 and almost 10 points with respect to the day.

For this reason, it is important that the quilt, in spite of being for summer, must contain a minimum of weight to be able to have enough well-being during all the nights, without getting to neither cold nor heat.

In the market, depending on the manufacturer, you can currently find plenty of grammages for a quilt. But we must know that there are many quilts that are not for summer and are designed to be used in colder times, such as autumn and winter.

A summer quilt should have around 100 - 150 grams. It is important that this weight does not pass because it will give a symptom of heat and overwhelm and rest will not become pleasant.

It is important to know how to differentiate the summer and winter bedspreads by looking at the weight of the filling and the composition of the fabric, which is 100% cotton.
